Three Kids To Please

By Opal Tribble • Jun 12th, 2007 • Category: News, What's Cooking/Uncooking?

My daughters two playmates are coming to spend the day with us. Their energy level matches my daughter so I’m in trouble. I really haven’t thought about a meal plan but I’m going to keep it simple. I cut honeydew melons last evening, I’ve stocked up on homemade fruit pops and for the main course I’m thinking of tossing some veggie burgers on the grill along with rosemary garlic fries. Whatever I fix I’ll post the pictures later today.

Question: When you’re entertaining children what do you prepare?

  1. Last week when I had my niece and nephew, we had corn on the cob, strawberries, spinach and onions, fruit smoothies, watermelon, and we had a ball because they helped with the meal. Kids like to graze and eat a variety of foods.

  2. Shelia,
    Thanks for the fabulous suggestions.
I used an Amy’s Pizza and added my own toppings. I also had a large fruit bowl. I’ll be posting the pictures soon. I’ll be watching them Friday and I’ll be preparing Indian food. I know they like that. :-)

  3. Sounds yummy! Please post picutures and recipes for that special day.

  4. [...] where is my mind? In my comments on my Three Kids To Please post I inaccurately said that I used an Amy’s pizza but I didn’t I was thinking [...]

  5. I almost always do the “Build your own Nachos” thing for children who visit. I put out bowls of fresh tomatoes, raw corn, chopped lettuce, onions, avacado, black beans, refried beans, tofu sour cream, vegan cheese, black olives, etc.
Then I put a big bowl of blue corn chips in the middle and let the kids make their own. It’s usually a hit.
