Giving My Digestive System A Break: Drinking My Meals

By Opal Tribble • Jul 17th, 2007 • Category: Cleansing, News

Pouring Water

At least once per week I set aside a day where I drink my meals. It’s a chance to give my digestive system a break since it doesn’t have to work as hard to break down foods. Today will be my drinking day?

lemons What’s on the menu? I already had two ten ounce glasses of freshly squeezed lemon water. Lemon’s help loosen and break up the excess mucous stored in our bodies. It’s also a mild laxative.

I have two large watermelons laying around the house so I’ll turning them into smoothies. I’ll be sure to add some greens.

Later today I’ll pull out my juice and create something savory. I’ll be using tomatoes, celery, collards, and garlic. This drink is packed with nutrients. I might toss something else into this blend.

Question: What type of cleanses have you done?

lemons, cleansing, liquid diet, health

  1. Only teas, really.

Watermelon…yum…high in protein! When I first found out just HOW much I LOVED it…goes to prove a lot of protein-freaks wrong…lol.

But seriously, I love watermelon! I am the only one in my family, tho. I need to drink more of my meals! I need to work on that one!

  2. My favourite is apple juice, orange juice, ginger and pineapple - stops bloating

  3. Netidme,
That sounds delightful I’ve made something similar. I love ginger.
    Thanks for stopping

    Harmonia,
Every now and again I crave watermelon. I love it.

  4. Vegetarianism is a very effective cleanse in the first place, but I do like the sound of drinking my day away.

  5. Oh, this is nice and informative. I’m glad you have those categories listed on the right where I can easily find things at this site. I was about to start doing a liquid diet day when I got wholloped by a cold. So I am going to try again when I am feeling back to 100%. I really think that may be something I’d like to do every so often.

  6. Christopher,
I think it depends on what type of meals you eat as a vegetarian or vegan. As a vegetarian/vegan you can eat a lot of junk (processed foods) and not do any type of cleansing. If your diet consists mainly of whole foods then yes, to a certain degree you are cleansing. Just because someone is vegetarian or vegan does not mean they are necessarily making healthy choices.

    teeni,
Actually one of the best times to go on a cleanse is when you are combating a cold. You are supplying your body with the nutrients it needs by consuming the liquids and you are giving your digestive system a break.
