I’ll try to take a better picture of this juicer later today. The color is amazing. My daughter and I had a cold last weekend and although the symptoms lasted only a day. This was the menu. Why? Garlic is excellent for the immune system. I always up my intake of raw intake around the flu season. I don’t take over th counter remedies there are plenty of natural remedies available that I can use to combat the cold or flu.

This past Saturday was the first time I had the symptoms of a cold in several years however thanks to upping my intake of raw garlic, and consuming drinks like this healing cocktail my the symptoms did not last long. Did you know that beet juice makes the flu virus inactive?

I made another batch of this juice a few moments ago. This is my daughter’s favorite. She just walked in and gave me the thumbs up. I cut hers with half/half apple juice although the garlic is not strong to me it might be if you don’t normally consume a large amount of raw garlic. Guess what garlic is also good for your skin.

  1. I have been trying to find recipes to incorporate more beets! Thanks!!! You’re using my glass again…haha…Great color, as usual!!! Thank you!!!

  2. Mmmmm… looks good. My juicer has been sitting around collecting dust, but I think I might have just found an new use for it

  3. I must get back to my healthy diet, and this post motivates me to do so. There was a point when I was on an 85% (approx.) raw diet. I REALLY need to get back on track!

  4. Harmonia,
I have a raw borscht recipe. It uses beets. I’ll try to make it this coming week.

    dara,
At times its easy to get off track we all make mistakes you can always pick yourself up and continue where you left off.

    perros,
LOL at times my juicer does the same thing. :-) I’ve been juicing several times this week. :-) When I initially purchased it I used it several times a week. I made lots of cleansing/healing drinks. It more than paid for itself. :-)

  5. Hmm - I do love that glass. The little bumps on it remind me of the old milk glass that my grandmother used to have. Also, it makes it hard fo r it to slip out of anyone’s hands. Double-good! Um, and oh yeah, it can hold healthy juices like this recipe. I am ashamed to admit I have never tried beets. I have a can of them in my cupboard but don’t know what to do with them. I understand it is probably not the best way to eat beets (canned) but since I didn’t know what to do with it I wouldn’t risk buying fresh and having it go bad before I could make it into something. I welcome any ideas you have.

  6. teeni,
Yes I do believe my grandmother had glasses like this also. :-) Harmonia has the same type.

When I put it in the glass I thought, “this juice would look good in a wine glass!” I have wine glasses but I don’t use them for wine. I have been thinking about making my own wine though. We’ll see….

    Beets
You can add slivers of it to salads, you can pickle them, add them to sauces for a rich color. I’ll post a few recipes next week. I bought beets about a week ago. Fresh beets do last for a little while. I’ll check to see how long mine never last too long in the house! :-) The only reason they lasted this long is because I’ve been drinking liquids most of this week.

  7. Oh! Let me know if you make it!

  8. Okay! I’m going to try and stay posted but feel free to drop me a line if you post any more beet recipes. I like the ideas you already gave me too. But this week will be busy for me - my niece goes in for her second surgery on Friday so I may be more sporadic on here.

  9. You may want to consider The Juice and Smoothie Association, (JASA). Their site has industry information and recipe books. Go to:

  10. I’m using lemon juice and some bee product (I really forget its name) to fight with the flu. Vitamin C is a powerful immune buster.

  11. Twin gear juicers extract juice very fast and it has two automatic pulp inlet caps for efficient juice extraction.
